They relented, told me I could adjust valves during PDI. 2 months later we had a shop meeting in which we were told that we were to do the valve adjustment since the comebacks for cold driveability were increasing–except for the Subarus I PDI’d.
8/31/2017 · The valve adjustment on the 1000 is the easiest DOHC that I have done. Because of the gear driven cams there is no messing with the timing chain, just unbolt and lift the cam, then replace. It is one reason I bought the Vstrom after owning an SV1000. I love this engine. I recently did a check and needed to adjust one exhaust valve.
9/23/2015 · Do one bucket at a time and note down whether it is intake or exhaust and right or left side. Once you do one jug, put that jug’s shims, buckets, and cams back in. Then do the other jug. Once ALL that is done, use the excel sheet linked above to figure out.
10/23/2019 · But the more valves there are in total, the smaller each valve needs to be. This 1000cc V -twin has 4 intake and 4 exhaust, so say 250cc per each valve . Redline is 9500RPM(?), with a power band between 4-7k. I never rode a V – Strom 1000 but from what I remember riding the SV1000S, between 4-7k is pretty much how I rode most of the time.
7/11/2015 · I have never had just the valves done always part of routine service that includes all the lesser tasks that are also due including oil, filter, fastener inspection, clean lube and adjust if necessary, shift linkage, cables, caliper pins, air filter, plugs, throttle body sync, etc. runs $400-$500
